You've heard about Microsoft Fabric, and you're ready to take it for a spin? Excellent, let's get us started off in those few advertised minutes! But hold on .. you need a capacity to actually use something, and might not be completely clear on what it actually entails? You're not alone with these questions, and it is perfectly fine to stop and think about it for a while. In fact, it's a good thing you want to understand the single most core concept of Fabric as that will hopefully allow you to make better decisions down the road.
The introduction of Fabric Capacities sparked a lot of questions with Data Architects, Engineers, and Analysts coming from an IaaS or Paas (Infrastructure or Platform as a Service) way of working. Microsoft Fabric is presented as an all-in-one Analytics SaaS (Software as a Service) solution, with a unified measure for Compute and Storage. Great, promising to make the cost and performance predictability a lot simpler. Great! But what exactly does that mean, and what will it actually cost the company?
To understand Fabric Capacities, we need to briefly look at the architecture and what exactly those unified measures look like, including how they are similar, yet different from the existing Power BI Premium Capacities. Understanding the different types and sizes of capacities will help us make the right decisions for our Data Platform solutions in the organization.
But then, how do you manage those capacities and assess if they are in a healthy state? What are some of the options to follow the demands and needs of your business users to allocate the right resources to them? Most importantly, what options do I have to automate the majority of these tasks?
Walking out of the session, you should understand the key concept of Fabric Capacities and how they are at the core of everything you'll do in Microsoft Fabric, be able to choose the one that is right for you, periodically assess if the choice was right, and act where needed.

Why spend time digging through dashboards to find a KPI when you could just ask a question and get the answer instantly?
In this session, we’ll explore how Microsoft Fabric is changing the way we work with data — moving away from static reports toward dynamic conversations. You don’t need to click through filters or build visuals — just ask your question and get straight to the answer.
We’ll walk through the tools that make this possible, including:
- Natural language to SQL, KQL and DAX capabilities in Fabric
- Copilot in Power BI
- Data Agents (AI Skills) to create your own chat-based data experiences
- Copilot Studio & AI Foundry to enrich these experiences
You’ll leave with practical examples and ideas to help you rethink how users engage with data in your own use cases

We surveyed over 450 dashboard creators when writing Dashboards That Deliver and asked a big picture question: do you agree with the statement ‘most dashboards fail’? More than 70% of the respondents agreed, and that’s among people with a vested interest in seeing dashboards succeed.
The secret to designing a dashboard that has an impact?
Start with understanding your users deeply, then design with them as partners.
During this talk, you’ll learn the Dashboards That Deliver design framework, which blends user-centered design, Agile, and data viz practices and the authors’ experiences designing thousands of dashboards across industries.
Then we’ll dive into a few practical examples to see how the framework applies in practice and what lessons you can apply to the next dashboard you design, whether you’re a team of one or an enterprise analytics team..

How do we apply the Scrum framework when our product is as elusive as data? What could be more captivating than showcasing a SQL query during your demo? Perhaps a new Excel export with 4 additional columns... the epitome for an increment of value!
We'll be sharing the ingenious solutions and ideas we've crafted for various events and artifacts to enhance the appreciation of the team's efforts and to captivate stakeholders' interest for a thorough inspection.
Enter the dynamic duo: a married couple, united in life but diverse in their professional domains. She, the adept Scrum Master steering a data team within a banking institution; he, the visionary chapter lead in the energy sector. Despite similar contexts, their distinct personalities offer complementary perspectives.
Tali Fulman
Most data guilds start with enthusiasm but quickly become "nice to have meetings" with little real impact. The hard truth: your company has a roadmap, product is king, and guilds often have zero leverage to implement their initiatives.
Drawing from a decade of leading data guilds at Wix and Simply, I'll share my Guild Impact Framework - transforming guilds from powerless forums into engines of organizational change.
The talk addresses three dimensions:
Technical - Establishing one source of truth and building strong trust in data across the organization.
Business - Transforming isolated insights into organization-wide opportunities with exponential impact.
Human - Building professional growth ecosystem that accelerates development and retains talent.
Whether you've felt the frustration of watching your guild's potential go unrealized or are considering starting one, you'll leave with tools to build data communities that don't just generate ideas but actually implement them.
Timo Dechau
Product and Growth analytics is often a completely separate setup from Revenue analytics (like subscriptions analytics). Which is a pity, since product usage and success moments can tell a lot about future revenue changes. They can be used as early signals for commercial teams to reach out to accounts before revenue is lost.
Matthias Rochtus
Most businesses have a geolocation component, think of tracking a runners club to show progress, optimized delivery routes or finding the perfect location for your next store. When implemented effectively, geospatial data can drive growth and open up new strategic opportunities.
The talk will walk you through the full lifecycle of geospatial data developments with open-source tools—from preprocessing GPS signals with Kalman filters to SQL processing using PostGIS in PostgreSQL databases. You will learn how to analyze and transform data in Python using GeoPandas, the geospatial extension of Pandas. When the data is ready, you’ll see how to visualize geospatial data using Python libraries such as Folium and the open-source tool QGIS. You will also learn how to use unsupervised machine learning models to segment geospatial time-series and classify, for example, the types of movement.
In the demo, we will show step-by-step a geospatial pipeline that transforms a the GPS trace of a runner & cyclist into processed insights. We’ll learn how to visualize and manipulate geospatial data in QGIS.

Hogyan támogathatják a citizen megközelítésű eszközök az adatsilók lebontását, és miként válhatnak a digitális transzformáció valódi motorjaivá?
Péter Fülöp
A Power BI adatvizualizációs képességei hatékonyan támogatják a piacmonitoring feladatok ellátását is.

Become faster in designing your dashboards by using the three-layer method. Besides faster, your dashboards will have a more professional look and feel, and attuned to your key audience.
The design of dashboards can be split into three layers. Looking at your dashboard in that way, will help you tremendously with creating better dashboards. These are the layers we distinguish:
• the overall structure,
• a dashboard page/ tab,
• and each individual graph.
During this session we go swiftly through the 3 layers. Starting at the overall structure, we will work on building a wireframe to structure the information, getting to know our audience and work on incorporating your company style.
Then we quickly dive to the next layer: the dashboard tab. Where do you place the dashboard elements? Do you use navigation, and what filter type fits your dashboard?
We finish the session on the detailed level of graphs. Everyone has a ‘graph-vocabulary’: most people have 5 to 7 graphs that are top of mind. However, there are hundreds of graphs that can help you communicate your key message. We’ll discuss some graph specials, and focus on how you make your graph as effective as possible with some design choices.

hink about your last Google or AI search. Did you start with "How can I..."? Chances are, you did. According to Google Trends, this simple phrase has skyrocketed in popularity, pointing to what Ipsos calls a defining trend of our time: a "me-first" mindset.
This isn't just a search trend, it's a profound cultural shift visible everywhere, from our digital habits to global value systems.
So how do we create data visualizations that resonate in this new reality?
In this session, we'll connect this big picture to the daily challenges we all face. We’ll explore why the old rules of "best practice" are no longer enough when designing for people with unique "visual taste buds."
Through candid stories and a crucial case study, you'll get a practical guide to navigating this new reality.
Together, we will uncover:
• A framework for visual resonance: learn to translate the abstract desire for "beauty" into a concrete design strategy that aligns with your audience's values
• The human context model: a mental checklist for anticipating how your data will land emotionally and culturally
• The empathy differentiator: discover why the ability to act as a cultural translator is becoming more valuable than pure technical skill
You will leave with a fresh perspective on your audience, and a more resilient, human-centered approach to creating data visualizations that don't just show facts, but truly connect.

Most BI people come from technical or business backgrounds, but creating an informative and user-friendly report requires not only good data models and formulas – a bit of design knowledge is also needed.
For not burning reader’s eyes with contrasting colors, not sucking them into the black hole of confusing menus and finally, not making them feel like they’re on a pop news site where all the ads compete for attention and the purpose of the page is deeply obscured.
Let me give a crash course on the essentials of design that everyone doing anything visual (including Power BI dashboards) with shapes (including rectangles aka bar charts) for people (who like nice colors and cat pics) should know.

Deneb is a powerful custom visualisation in Power BI, which allows us to build precise bespoke visualisation without the limitations of standard Power BI visuals. However there is a learning curve to overcome.
This session helps break down that barrier and show the steps to being proficient in the required skills are not that steep.
We will look at the first steps into Vega-Lite, one of the languages used in Deneb, and break down the basic components needed to build your first visuals and beyond.

Creating reports with Power BI may seem easy at first. However, many people eventually discover that their reports are not being viewed, end-users are confused about navigating, and the process is more complicated than anticipated. This session will address these challenges and provide you with the skills to create visually appealing, intuitive, and actionable data visualizations that serve a clear purpose and effectively guide end-users.
In this session, I will demonstrate how to create data visualizations that are visually appealing, intuitive, and actionable, only using Power BI core visuals. Since many of us are creating reports for others who eventually need to maintain them themselves, I think it is important not to involve too many external tools and additional code, just keep it simple!
The techniques you will learn are practical and can be immediately applied to your work. You will learn how to:
- Use DAX to Enhance Visuals: Learn how to modify your visuals using DAX, such as changing colors and highlighting important information, to make critical insights stand out.
- Focus on Key Information: Learn techniques to refine your visuals so they display the most critical data, ensuring users can quickly grasp what matters most.
- Facilitate User Navigation: Explore different methods to enable smooth user navigation, allowing end-users to interact easily with your reports and find the necessary information.
Join me as we explore how to create purposeful, user-friendly visualizations using only Power BI's core features, no SVGs or external tools required. Let’s make your reports not just seen but truly understood!

Microsoft Fabric is the future, no doubt about that. As a consequence, many of my clients are looking to Fabric to solve their future analytics needs. But - rarely do analytics projects begin from scratch; most often there is some kind of migration of an older technology stack involved.
Sadly, this is often overlooked in the brave new world of the cloud in general, and Microsoft Fabric in particular. In fact, there is rarely a straight shot from any current platform to Microsoft Fabric, and most any migration will involve a smaller or larger amount of code conversion.
After several migration projects from both on-prem and cloud based offerings to Microsoft Fabric, I have collected my experiences into a session that takes a long, hard look at the opportunities and challenges inherent in trying to migrate just about any existing analytics workload to Microsoft Fabric.
This session will give you a better understanding of the road ahead, the challenges lurking under the surface, and some of the decisions you face - should you wish to embark on the same journey.

Managing a Power BI environment can be frustrating.
Our database changes a name of a column, where is that used in our reports? Do I need to open them all? Who do I contact?
We know that bi-directional filtering is best not-done, but how do we know it is used? Can we find that?
Using Semantic link, a free python library we can use in Fabric Notebooks, even someone with little to no Python experience can save a lot of time finding answers to these questions.
Come and see how semantic link can help you out like it did for me.
The Yellow wizard will take you along on a managing tour of the Power BI environment of Middle Earth.

Visual Calculations (VCalcs) are not only a new Power BI feature that can facilitate access to Power BI for DAX beginners, but also – digging deeper – a complex calculation system based on a new DAX evaluation context: the Visual Context (VContx). If you are not satisfied with the built-in formulas created in VCalcs but want to know how to customize the underlying DAX code to go further, this session is for you. We will see how to use CALCULATE to generate the VCalcs we want and how to interact with the VContx in detail, even discovering hierarchical structures typical of the Multidimensional Analysis Services models... in Tabular!

Linear, code-based data workflows might be perfect for self-contained data science teams, but they can also exclude collaborators from data exploration and development. This results in siloed analyses that miss out on valuable domain expertise from stakeholders, and end products that rot away because they haven’t been customized to meet the needs of specific users.
Our session introduces Observable Canvases, a new way of working that encourages data teams and business users to work together — visually, iteratively, and collaboratively.
Attendees will learn how canvases help BI teams move faster from raw data to long-lived dashboards by:
- Encouraging non-linear data exploration with interactive, performant charts — no matter the size of your data
- Flexing between UI, AI, or code to wrangle and visualize data across the canvas
- Bringing everyone together in one place for richer and more efficient collaboration
- Making dashboard development a natural extension of your data analysis, for faster delivery and easier upkeep

Helyszín
A Budapest BI Fórum új helyszíne a Hotel Helia
